About Yoga

‘The word Yoga derives from Sanskrit and means to connect or unite.  Yoga helps us to grow closer to our inner selves by making us more aware, more attentive to our bodies and our feelings.’

Vanda Scaravelli

Yoga is a holistic system which promotes wellbeing.

Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathwork) and Dharana and Dhyana (concentration and meditation practices) are part of this system, offering a range of benefits on a physical, mental and energetic level.

The practice of Yoga can help to bring us back into the present moment, offering a means of reconnecting with our bodies and stilling our minds.

The nature of Yoga is one of compassion and harmony, not competition with others, or yourself.  It is a personal practice, even when experienced in a class.

‘… Yoga is a practice that any person, regardless of age, sex, race, or religious belief can use to realise [their] potential.’

Donna Farhi
