A day of Yoga on the Suffolk coast

  • Saturday 28th May, 10 am to 4 pm
  • Hardy’s Barn, Iken Barns, Iken, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP12 2EP
  • £85 including lunch and refreshments

Time to reconnect.

Take time this Spring to reconnect, rejuvenate and rebalance by joining me and fellow British Wheel of Yoga teacher Holly Bedford for a day of Yoga, meditation and walking in the idyllic setting of Iken by the Alde river.

Whether you are a new or experienced student of Yoga, we welcome you to our first day retreat. Options to soften or strengthen your practice will be offered to ensure you get what you need from this blissful day where we will work with the theme of ‘connection’.

Expect light refreshments as you arrive at our venue, a beautiful intimate space overlooking the Alde estuary. Your day will start with a meditative reconnecting breathwork practice, before we transition to our asana (posture) work.

We will pause over a delicious vegan lunch, which can be eaten outside on the terrace to take in the breath-taking beauty of our surroundings, or inside depending on the weather and your preference. Our mid-retreat break will also allow you time to explore the surrounding area, via our venue’s private access point directly onto a path along the estuary, giving you opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourself.

Your afternoon will include breathwork, mindful movement and meditation practices and time to come together over cake by Vegan Cookiio, before our day concludes with an immersive guided relaxation.

Throughout the day, we will endeavour to harness the power of the natural world and a holistic Yoga practice to help you to reconnect to what is important to you. By utilising both nature’s and Yoga’s abilities to enhance wellbeing, we will help you to feel lighter, stronger, and calmer, leaving you more connected to yourself, those around you, and the earth itself.

Your teachers

Holly Bedford is a mum, school teacher and British Wheel of Yoga qualified teacher. She’s been practicing Yoga for over 20 years and teaching Yoga for over 10. During that time, her style has evolved from purely Hatha to incorporate many styles of Yoga and movement. She says, “Basically, I take the best bits from different styles of Yoga to tailor each class to my students’ goals and preferences.”

One of Holly’s strengths is the ability to vary her offering on the spot. Whether you’re a long-term Yogi or a newbie, Holly will welcome you with all the support and guidance you need. She aims to teach with joy, understanding, compassion and dedication.

Holly believes that strength, balance and flexibility are key not just in a Yoga practice, but also in everyday life. It all helps to keep our joints supple, to nurture our mental wellbeing and to increase our resilience for coping with change. As she likes to quote from Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

Catherine Rolfe is a British Wheel of Yoga qualified teacher who teaches Hatha style classes with an inclusive staged approach. She encourages students to balance effort and ease in their practice, knowing that without challenge there can be no change.

Catherine aims to teach with warmth, mindfulness and kindness and hopes that students will experience the joy, empowerment and solace she has found in a holistic Yoga practice. She is dedicated to being a lifelong student of Yoga and has completed additional trainings, including mindfulness meditation teacher training with the renowned Cyndi Lee.
